Limestone College's Annual Young Artist Competition

Limestone College's Annual Young Artist Competition for vocalists and instrumentalists will be held on Friday, February 9, 2018. Cash awards will be given to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners. Repertoire examples are provided below as well as other information regarding the competition.
1st Place - $500.00
2nd Place - $250.00
3rd Place - $100.00
To register, complete the online application. The application deadline is January 19, 2018. Space is limited to the first 20 applicants in each category (voice and instrumental). Entrance fee of $30. Once you complete the online application, you will be redirected to the College's online payment site where you can pay by credit card or electronic check.

Students in grades 10, 11 and 12 at the time of the competition are eligible.
All performances must be accompanied, except for cases in which no accompaniment is indicated. Entrants are encouraged to bring their own accompanists. Limestone College staff accompanists will be provided for an additional fee of $30. An original copy (i.e., no photocopies) of the score with the tempi clearly indicated (metronome speeds), must be sent with the competition application, or upon completion of the online application. If your selection appears in an anthology, a copy of the score will be accepted by mail, but the original must arrive with the student on the day of the competition. The competition will not provide an accompanist for music received after the application deadline.
Wind and percussion instruments - any major concerto movement or solo work
Flute - Mozart , Concerto in G Major
Oboe - Haydn, Concerto in C Major
Clarinet - Weber, Concerto
Bassoon - Mozart, Concerto for Bassoon
Alto Saxophone - Heiden, Sonata
Horn - Mozart, Concerto
Trumpet - Hummel, Concerto
Trombone - David, Concertino, Op. 4
Euphonium - Huchison, Sonatina
Tuba - Haddad, Suite for Tuba
Marimba - Creston, Concerto for Marimba
One Italian song from the 16th to the 18th century, one English song (English or American) from the Elizabethan period through the 20th century, and one song to be selected by the participant and teacher from the Classical Repertoire (three works in all, memorization is required for all sections)
All students must provide original scores for the judges.
