Gary Auguste Robinson, DMA

 

Gary Robinson continues a successful career as a performing percussionist, an artist teacher, and an orchestral conductor. His work as an orchestral percussionist began in the 1970’s and continues as a section percussionist in the Greenville (SC) Symphony Orchestra. A resident of South Carolina since 1985, he has performed with most of the orchestras in the Upstate and surrounding region. Robinson retired from a 33-year post as a music faculty member of Greenville’s Fine Arts Center, where he developed the school’s percussion and winds & brass chamber music courses and taught music theory. He has also held posts at the University of Connecticut, Furman University, and, in the 1990s, Limestone College. Robinson’s career as an orchestral conductor has centered around his development of the Greenville County Young Artist Orchestra, and has included work on the podium with the Greenville Symphony Orchestra, the Asheville (NC) Symphony Orchestra, the Hendersonville (NC) Symphony Orchestra, the Clemson University Symphony Orchestra, as well as guest conductor and festival appointments.
