Fine Arts Scholarship in Creative Writing
The Fine Arts Scholarship in Creative Writing is for students with strong creative writing skills and literary potential. The scholarship is awarded only to students majoring in English with the Creative Writing concentration.
Scholarships will be awarded based on the merit of the student’s creative work and a letter of recommendation.
In order to be considered for the Fine Arts Scholarship in Creative Writing, follow these steps:
1. Fill out the Fine Arts Scholarship Application.
2. Request a letter of recommendation from a high school teacher who is familiar with your writing. The teacher must send the letter to Professor Erin Pushman, email@example.com. The letter should include your contact information as well as the teacher’s. A Limestone professor will send an acknowledgement of receipt within seven days. If your teacher does not receive an acknowledgement email within seven days, please ask the teacher to re-submit the letter.
3. Submit a portfolio of 10-25 pages of your best creative writing to Professor Erin Pushman, firstname.lastname@example.org. Make sure to include pieces from each genre you write (poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction/essay, hybrid, etc.). Your email should consist of a cover letter explaining who you are as a writer and why you want to major in Creative Writing at Limestone College. The portfolio is the most important part of your application, as it will give us the best idea of your creative work and potential. A Limestone professor will send an acknowledgement of receipt within 7 days. If you do not receive an acknowledgement email within 7 days, please re-submit your portfolio.

The deadline for scholarship consideration is revolving but no later than August 15 of each year. The number of scholarships is limited, so applying early is wise.
Students who earn scholarships must declare English, Creative Writing as the major, in order for the scholarship to be applied to the financial aid package.
Scholarships are reevaluated each year. To maintain the Fine Arts Scholarship in Creative Writing, students must continue to demonstrate literary growth in writing courses, maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 and a minimum GPA in English of 3.0. Students must also continue to major in English with the Creative Writing concentration.
